  • 1 cup fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup angel food cake cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries whole for skewers
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips optional, for drizzling

Method
 

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the sliced strawberries, heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
  2. Using an electric mixer, whip the mixture on medium-high speed until soft peaks form, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Prepare the skewers by alternating threading the angel food cake cubes and whole strawberries until filled.
  4. Transfer the whipped dip to a serving bowl.
  5. If desired, melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth, and drizzle over the whipped dip.
  6. Serve the whipped strawberry dip alongside the shortcake skewers for dipping.
