  • 2 tablespoons Oyster Sauce can substitute with more soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Rice Vinegar can use apple cider vinegar
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced or garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Chinese Five-Spice Powder or a mix of cinnamon, star anise, ginger, and cloves
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame Oil omit for a lighter flavor
For the Chicken
  • 1 pound Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped Green Onions optional
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame Seeds optional

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Combine hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, Chinese five-spice powder, and sesame oil in a mixing bowl.
  3. Marinate chicken thighs in a resealable bag with marinade. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, ideally overnight.
  4. Let the chicken rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.
  5. Arrange the marinated chicken on a foil-lined baking sheet.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, checking for a golden, glossy appearance.
  7. Thicken the reserved marinade by boiling in a saucepan for about 10 minutes.
  8. Broil the chicken for 2-3 minutes after brushing with thickened marinade until caramelized.
  9. Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
