Method
 

Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8x8 inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine sugar, flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, oil, and vanilla until smooth. Fold into dry ingredients.
  4. Scoop out 1/4 cup of the brownie batter and set aside. Pour the remaining batter into the baking dish.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese with sugar, one egg, and vanilla until smooth. Mix in orange food coloring if desired.
  6. Spread cream cheese mixture over the brownie layer, then drop spoonfuls of reserved brownie batter on top.
  7. Gently swirl the brownie batter into the cream cheese layer with a knife or skewer.
  8. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, checking doneness with a toothpick.
  9. Allow to cool completely in the baking dish before lifting out and slicing into squares.
