Steps
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8x8 inch baking dish.
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine sugar, flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, oil, and vanilla until smooth. Fold into dry ingredients.
- Scoop out 1/4 cup of the brownie batter and set aside. Pour the remaining batter into the baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese with sugar, one egg, and vanilla until smooth. Mix in orange food coloring if desired.
- Spread cream cheese mixture over the brownie layer, then drop spoonfuls of reserved brownie batter on top.
- Gently swirl the brownie batter into the cream cheese layer with a knife or skewer.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, checking doneness with a toothpick.
- Allow to cool completely in the baking dish before lifting out and slicing into squares.
