  • 0.25 cup Light Soy Sauce For a balanced umami flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar Balances the saltiness; can use honey or maple syrup.
  • 1 tablespoon Freshly Minced Garlic Adjust based on preferred garlic flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes (Gochugaru) Adjust or omit for milder flavor.
To Enhance Flavors
  • 1 tablespoon Vinegar For a tangy profile.
  • 1 tablespoon Chili Oil For extra heat.
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Herbs Such as cilantro or green onions.

Equipment

  • pot
  • Bowl
  • container
  • Whisk
  • ice bath

Method

Preparation Steps
  1. Begin by bringing a pot of water to a gentle boil over medium heat. Once boiling, carefully add medium to large eggs and boil for about 7 minutes for a slightly soft center.
  2. Transfer the eggs to an ice bath to cool them down quickly, stopping the cooking process and making them easier to peel.
  3. Prepare the marinade by whisking together the light soy sauce, sugar, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes in a bowl until well combined.
  4. Once the eggs are peeled, place them in a secure container and pour the prepared marinade over the eggs.
  5. Seal the container tightly and refrigerate the eggs for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  6. After marination, your Korean Marinated Eggs are ready to be enjoyed!
