Step-by-Step Instructions for Butter Pecan Cinnamon Buns
  1. Prepare the baking dish by greasing a 9x13-inch baking dish with softened butter or cooking spray.
  2. Heat 1 cup of whole milk in a saucepan until warm but not boiling, add 4 tablespoons of very soft unsalted butter and stir until melted.
  3. Mix together 2.5 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of rapid rise yeast, 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt in a large bowl.
  4. Combine the cooled milk and butter mixture with the dry ingredients along with 1 large room temperature egg, mixing gently until combined.
  5. Gradually add remaining flour, knead until smooth and elastic for about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Let the kneaded dough rise in a greased bowl, covered, in a warm spot for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  7. Mix together 1 cup of light brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon, and 4 tablespoons of very soft butter for the filling.
  8. Roll out the dough into a 16x12 inch rectangle and spread the filling, leaving a border.
  9. Roll the dough tightly from one long side, cut into 12 pieces, and place cut-side up in the baking dish to rise for 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  11. Bake rolls for 18-20 minutes until lightly golden and springy to the touch.

  13. Pour warm pecan topping generously over buns as soon as out of the oven, let seep in, and serve warm.
