Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup cream cheese softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for cream cheese filling

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  8. On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, drop tablespoon-sized balls of cookie dough, leaving space between each.
  9. Use your thumb or the back of a spoon to create a small indentation in the center of each cookie.
  10. Fill the indentation with a small dollop of the cream cheese mixture.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  12. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, try adding a pinch of sea salt on top of the cookies before baking.
  • You can substitute the semi-sweet chocolate chips with dark chocolate or white chocolate chips for a different taste.
