Description
A delightful recipe for Sweet, Salty, and Spicy Garlic Noodles with Crisp Lettuce, perfect for a quick and flavorful meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces spaghetti or linguine
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 cup shredded lettuce (such as romaine or iceberg)
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the spaghetti or linguine according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.
- Stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Cook for another minute until the sugar has dissolved.
- Add the cooked noodles to the skillet, tossing to coat them evenly in the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the noodles to absorb the flavors.
- Remove from heat and fold in the shredded lettuce and sliced green onions.
- Serve warm, garnished with sesame seeds if desired.
Notes
- For added protein, consider tossing in cooked shrimp, chicken, or tofu when mixing in the noodles.
- To make it vegetarian or vegan, ensure the soy sauce is plant-based and omit any animal proteins. You can also add more vegetables like bell peppers or snap peas for extra crunch and nutrition.
