Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces penne pasta
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1/2 cup green onions, sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes (if using). Pour this mixture into the skillet with the sausage and garlic.
- Add the halved cherry tomatoes and cooked penne pasta to the skillet. Toss everything together to coat the pasta and sausage in the sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until heated through.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and stir in the sliced green onions.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
- For a healthier option, substitute whole wheat pasta for penne.
- Add vegetables like bell peppers or spinach for extra nutrition and color.
