Ingredients

  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch mixed with 2 teaspoons water
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and pepper.
  2. Dredge each piece of chicken in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
  3. Dip the floured chicken into the beaten eggs, then coat with panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  4. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  5. Fry the chicken in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  6. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil.
  8. Bring to a simmer, then stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
  9. Remove from heat and stir in sesame seeds.
  10. Toss the fried chicken in the sauce until well coated.
  11. Serve hot, garnished with sliced green onions.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • You can also substitute chicken thighs with chicken breasts for a leaner option.
